| Two couples, one child, and an unusual secret - not a love triangle, but a parental pentagon? Takeshi, the baby son of Shingo (Kimura) and his wife Ritsuko (Okada), was conceived through modern means. The biological father is family friend Sakaguchi (Kusaka), unbeknownst to him and his wife Shina. Adding to the powder keg, Shina is fertile, and desperately envies Ritsuko's child. Emotions finally explode when little Takeshi disappears, leading to an angst-ridden tryst and an eventual conclusion confirming the power of family. Yoshida again directs his wife Okada in this modern drama with almost Shakespearean undertones. |
