Brazil / 2017 / 93 minutes / DCP
Set against the seemingly conservative backdrop of Brazil’s São Paulo, Caetano’s debut feature follows Elias, a 23-year-old gay man who works in a clothing factory and refuses to hide his true identity. Indulging in casual sex and a hedonistic lifestyle, Elias introduces his colleagues to a world free of moral judgement and boundaries. Drawing on his experiences as Gabriel Mascaro’s assistant director on Neon Bull (40th), Caetano creates a film wrestling to find a modern definition for true masculinity.
