Kurosawa Kiyoshi continues his explorations of dark and creepy worlds in France. Here, 20-something Jean (Tahar Rahim) finds work as the assistant to a mysterious photographer, Stephane (Olivier Gourmet), whose obsession seems to be making new daguerrotypes of his haunting daughter (the ethereal Constance Rousseau). Who, in turn, resembles Stephane’s late wife. A beautifully photographed choreography of chilling dreams and occasional humor. Where, indeed, will the complex interplay of images take us?
